Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Information Technology

The Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Information Technology at Bindura University of Science Education exposes students to IT-related subjects through two pathways: Software Engineering and Network Engineering. Students develop foundations in the theoretical and practical aspects of Information Technology, Computer Science, and Information Systems Management, with learning that includes professional and ethical responsibilities in software development, programming and networking skills, and the ability to analyze and solve IT problems.

The programme includes taught courses during the first two years, with the third academic year reserved for Industrial Attachment. Students complete common courses in Part One, and specialization begins after the completion of first year. Students complete final research projects in their specialization area, alongside modules such as Software Engineering or Network Engineering topics and IT research project work.

For entry a student must have:

• At least 5 ‘O’ Levels including Mathematics and English Language with a grade C or better, and
• A pass in either‘A’ Level Mathematics, Computer Science/Computing and any one of the following ‘A’ Level subjects Physics, Accounting, Economics, Management of Business/Business Studies, Biology, Chemistry or any other relevant subject.
• Candidates without ‘A’ Levels but are holders of the HEXCO National Diploma in Computer Studies or Information Technology or their equivalent may be considered.
