Bachelor's in Sculpture
Introduction
Sculpture is a Bachelor program taught at Kanazawa College of Art, Japan. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The Sculpture programme at Kanazawa College of Art focuses on learning and pursuing principles of form through natural observation, and on touching materials to bring out their possibilities. Students explore how to develop “my form” through a study of nature, working with materials, and shaping personal expression.
Learning is structured around practical workshops and studio work. In the first year through the first half of the second year, students complete training in foundational sculpting techniques through sculpture materials and exercises, including natural observation, wood carving, stone carving, and shaping/plastic work. From the second half of the second year, students deepen their ideas while exploring options for self-expression, and in later years they complete production focused on selected materials and expression themes, aiming to finish their graduation work.
