Introduction

Ceramic Engineering Major is a Bachelor program taught at Ambassador University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Ceramic Engineering Major is a Bachelor of Science in Ceramic Engineering. Students build a broad foundation in materials engineering with a focus on ceramics, studying how material structure, processing, properties, and performance connect across material classes. The program also provides deeper expertise in ceramics and glass, including ceramic processing and materials science and engineering across ceramics, metals, polymers, and composites.

Program activities include a summer field session for hands-on learning and real-world exposure, with interactive lab projects and visits to working facilities. Students also complete four core lab courses starting in the second year, focused on ceramic processing, sintering, glass science, and the thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties of ceramics. The program includes access to an on-campus foundry and glass hot shop for large-scale ceramic experimentation and glass processing and forming.

The Ceramic Engineering Major prepares students to engineer ceramic and glass materials for critical applications, including solid-state batteries, sensors, and implants. Students also learn how ceramics work alongside or provide alternatives to other material classes, including ceramics used in demanding environments such as electric vehicles, advanced electronics, renewable energy, and medical devices.
