Introduction

Architecture is a Bachelor program taught at Bennington College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Bennington College’s Architecture degree focuses on the investigation of the potentials of spatial and formal exploration in the built world. Students work with faculty to design the content, structure, and sequence of their study and practice, called their Plan. Studio work centers on research, observation, analysis, and testing ideas through drawings and models, using exercises that explore meaning in form, space, and movement.

Teaching is organized as a studio approach. Introductory studios build architectural concepts through spatial investigations and then expand into more complex architectural programs organized around particular problems. Students use a broad range of media, including pencil and pen, basswood and cardboard, digital modeling, and laser cutting. Learning is evaluated through studio critiques and a final review at the end of the term with visiting architectural critics, where students curate and present work publicly.
