Introduction

Art History is a Bachelor program taught at Bennington College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Bennington College offers an Art History major where students work closely with faculty to design the content, structure, and sequence of their study and practice through their Plan. The approach is highly interdisciplinary, connecting historical and contemporary art and linking what informs a student’s own practice to what has shaped artistic practice across centuries and across the globe.

Students enrich their art history exploration through work in other subjects, including the social sciences, languages, sciences, and studio art. In addition to classroom study, students use resources inside and outside the classroom. Students are invited to extend their study through field work and study abroad experiences.

Eligibility is available to apply for the Museum Fellows Term during the junior year. In this term, students spend five months living in New York City, gain professional work experience at a major cultural institution, visit exhibitions, study multiple aspects of the art world with Bennington faculty, and meet artists, curators, and other arts and culture leaders.
