The Bachelor of Humanities at South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences Xamk focuses on outdoor and adventure education within the field of welfare. Students learn to plan and deliver safe, adventurous educational processes for different target groups, and to evaluate and develop adventurous educational activities. The curriculum covers preventive work and the promotion of well-being, and introduces forms of action within communities and society. Students develop pedagogical, social, technical, environmental and safety skills, and prepare for entrepreneurship.
The degree is taught as full-time day studies using contact teaching, online studies, individual assignments and group activities. Teaching includes working life-based assignments and projects, as well as internships. Students have opportunities to complete parts of their studies in international exchange.
Graduates qualify as community educators with an adventure education specialisation.
