The doctoral programme in education and psychology gives in-depth study of the chosen research topic through the dissertation, key theories, research methods, and scientific knowledge production in the field. Doctoral research focuses on educational sciences, psychology, or cognitive neuroscience, and on the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Psychology’s research priorities: education, teaching, and interventions; psychological and neurocognitive foundations of learning; interactive and technological learning environments; childhood, family, interaction, and well-being; and well-being, learning, and interaction at work.
The degree includes a dissertation and other doctoral studies worth 30 ECTS. The programme is taught in Finnish and English, and the listed teaching modes are contact teaching, independent learning, and blended teaching. The specialisation is selected during the application phase.
The programme leads to a Doctor of Philosophy (Education), Doctor of Philosophy (Psychology), or Doctor of Philosophy, depending on previous studies and specialisation. It prepares students for research and other demanding expert positions.
