Doctoral Programme in Psychology and Logopaedics

The Doctoral Programme in Psychology and Logopaedics at Tampere University leads to a Doctor of Philosophy. It covers psychology, logopedics, and speech technique and vocology. Doctoral studies are also described as training in scientific thinking, good scientific practice, research methods, and the skills needed to produce new knowledge and applications.

The programme lasts four years and is organised as blended teaching. It includes 240 ECTS credits. The structure has three modules: general academic competences, discipline- and field-specific studies, and a doctoral dissertation. General academic competences and discipline- and field-specific studies total 40 ECTS, and the dissertation is 200 ECTS. Students must also complete the required doctoral studies and defend a dissertation in public. A Licentiate of Philosophy is possible as an optional intermediate step.

Tampere University says the doctoral degree prepares students for academic work as researchers and teachers, as well as other expert tasks in society. It also enables the supervision of students and leadership of research groups.
