Doctoral Programme on Drug Research and Diagnostics is a research doctorate at the University of Turku. Doctoral researchers carry out their studies in the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Science, or the Faculty of Technology and follow the degree requirements of their own faculty.
The programme covers drug research, diagnostics, and related methods in drug development. It includes work on identifying and validating drug targets, developing drug molecules, studying pharmacological, pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic and toxicological properties, and clinical pharmacology. It also includes in vitro diagnostic methods, biomarkers, reporter technologies, bioaffinity reagents, assay concepts, and systems.
Training covers the full research process, from defining research objectives to the development of pharmaceutical and diagnostic products, and includes introduction to national and international regulations. The programme leads to doctoral degrees in medicine, odontology, science, or technology, depending on the faculty.
