English Language and Culture, Master of Arts

The Master’s Degree Programme in English Language and Culture studies English from literary and linguistic perspectives. It aims to build an in-depth understanding of contemporary English studies, awareness of key debates in contemporary linguistics, and the ability to carry out independent research.

Students specialise in either linguistics or literary and cultural studies. Linguistics includes dialectology, language contact, language variation and change, pragmatics and bilingualism. Literary and cultural studies cover postcolonial and ethnic literatures, American literature, popular fiction and contemporary fiction.
