Speech and Language Technology, Master of Science (Technology)

Aalto University’s Speech and Language Technology major in the Master of Science (Technology) degree covers speech and language processing and machine learning. The programme is part of the Master’s Programme in Computer, Communication and Information Sciences and is organised by the School of Electrical Engineering.

The two-year programme has major studies, possible minor studies, elective studies, and a master’s thesis. The major can be completed as a long 60 ECTS major or a compact 40 ECTS major. The first year lays the foundation for speech and language processing and machine learning. As studies continue, students deepen their understanding and can shape their own study track. The major places strong emphasis on practical project work and group exercises, and students can include courses from other universities, including international ones. The School of Electrical Engineering also offers student exchange and internships all over the world.

The degree programme provides eligibility for scientific postgraduate studies in Finland.
