The Finnish Doctoral Programme in Oral Sciences FINDOS Turku is a doctoral programme in oral sciences at the University of Turku. It is aimed at doctoral researchers conducting studies in dentistry or in a subject related to oral health. The programme covers biomaterials science, infectious diseases of the oral cavity, dental anxiety and fear, oral health promotion, craniomaxillofacial surgery, oral development and orthodontics, oral pathology, and oral radiology.
The programme includes both preclinical and clinical research. The University of Turku says the programme promotes exchange of knowledge and ideas between fundamental and clinical research and improves the possibilities for translational oral research. Teaching is in Finnish and English, and the mode of teaching is independent learning and contact teaching.
The programme leads to the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Odontology, and Doctor of Medical Science in the Faculty of Medicine. The University of Turku says graduates are needed as qualified teachers and researchers at Finnish universities, in the biotechnological industry, and in other areas of society.
