Master of Culture and Arts, Virtual Production

Master of Culture and Arts, Virtual Production is a 60 ECTS master’s degree at South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences Xamk. It gives hands-on experience in planning and executing virtual productions. The programme covers virtual production techniques, producing a virtual production project, cinematography and mise-en-scène in virtual production, and work on pre-production and on-set and post-production workflows.

The studies are completed in three semesters. Teaching is in English and combines independent online self-study with hands-on studio days held 2–3 days per month during the first year. Campus days take place in the Virtual Production Studio at the Kouvola Campus. The degree includes 30 ECTS of core and complementary competences and a 30 ECTS master’s thesis.

Xamk says the programme is for students who want to extend their skills in film, TV, games, XR, or live events. The thesis is research or development work related to working life or the professional field.
