Master of Hospitality Management, Tourism and Business Management is a 90 ECTS master’s degree at SAMK. It focuses on tourism and business management, with study areas that include strategic leadership, tourism competitiveness, sustainable tourism business, digitalisation, data-driven decision-making, the international business environment, and advanced theories of profitable and productive business operations.
The programme is taught in English as daytime studies on campus in Pori. Students study in an international group and complete contact teaching, independent and group assignments, examinations, and self-paced modules. SAMK says the programme uses industry cases and affiliated organisations in assignments, and that students create a Personal Study Plan with support from a tutor and faculty staff.
The studies include 55 ECTS of advanced professional studies, 5 ECTS of elective studies, and a 30 ECTS master’s thesis. The thesis is research oriented or project-based development work and can be carried out at the student’s workplace, in another target organisation, or as part of SAMK’s RDI activities. The programme is aimed at applicants with a suitable bachelor’s degree and at least two years of work experience in the field concerned after graduation.
