Master's Programme in Green Business, Master of Science (Agriculture and Forestry)

The Master’s Programme in Green Business is a dual master’s degree at the University of Helsinki and the University of British Columbia. It brings together sustainability, economics and green innovation. The programme covers bioproduct development, lifecycle analysis, sustainable entrepreneurship, responsible business management, sustainable finance, international forest policy, behavioural change and the use of digital tools and AI in sustainable supply chains.

You study for two years across two universities and two countries. The first year is at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and the second year is at the University of Helsinki’s Viikki campus. The programme includes mandatory courses, electives and an individual master’s thesis. You begin preparing your research plan at the end of the first year and complete the thesis in the second year.

The programme is designed for students interested in sustainability, green innovation and the economics of natural resources. It leads to a Master of Science in Agriculture and Forestry from the University of Helsinki and a Master of Forestry from the University of British Columbia.

You need a completed bachelor's or master's degree, or an equivalent qualification, from a recognised higher education institution. The programme says you may have a background in science, business sciences, agricultural sciences, social science or forestry. Admission is based on the relevance of previous studies, academic performance, proof of English language proficiency, a motivation letter, three recommendation letters and a CV. If you are admitted to the University of Helsinki, your application also needs to be forwarded to the University of British Columbia for acceptance.
