The Master's Programme in Global Politics and Communication at the University of Helsinki is an interdisciplinary programme in political science, media studies and global political economy. It covers the interaction of political, economic and media forces at local, national and global levels, and it develops critical thinking, analytical skills and research methods.
The programme is a 120 ECTS degree completed in two years. It is taught in English through contact teaching and is full-time and on-site, with some courses offering distance study opportunities. The structure includes joint studies, study track studies, a master's thesis seminar, a master's thesis, career skills and elective studies.
Students choose one of three study tracks: Governance, Organisations and Communication; Media and Democracy; or World Politics and Economic Governance. The programme includes a 30 ECTS master's thesis written in English and completed under the guidance of a supervisor.
