Master's Programme in International Food Business and Gastronomy, Master of Science

The Master's Programme in International Food Business and Gastronomy at the University of Helsinki combines food business, gastronomy and sustainability. It focuses on international food marketing, brand building, export strategy, trade, gastronomic markets, consumer cultures, food trends, logistics, food legislation and product and service innovation.

The programme takes two years and is taught in English. It uses contact teaching with mainly daytime classes and combines in-person teaching, online teaching and learning, and independent study. The curriculum includes advanced studies, a master’s thesis and thesis seminar, other studies, elective studies, summer schools and partner-university courses.

The programme is for students who want a career where food, business and sustainability meet. The University of Helsinki says it prepares graduates for multicultural food business environments and for doctoral studies.

You are eligible to apply if you have completed a relevant bachelor’s degree at a higher education institution in Finland or abroad by the start of studies, have sufficient skills in English, and have completed the minimum amount of higher-education studies in business administration required for the programme. Studies in business management, marketing, accounting or consumer behaviour form a strong foundation. Studies related to food are considered an asset.
