Master's Programme in One Health, Master of Science

In the Master’s Programme in One Health at the University of Helsinki, you study health challenges that connect humans, animals and the environment. The programme combines life sciences, ecology and social sciences, with thematic courses, an internship, a capstone project and a research thesis.

The programme totals 120 ECTS credits and takes two years. Teaching is mainly on the Viikki Campus and draws on six faculties. You build depth in at least two specialisation areas, and you can do your internship in Finland or abroad. The University of Helsinki says the programme prepares graduates for work in public authorities, research institutes, international agencies, NGOs and the health and food sectors.

This programme is for applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree in the life sciences, such as biology, veterinary or biomedical science, environmental science, or agriculture and forestry, or in pharmacy, medicine, public health or the social sciences. It also suits early-career professionals who want to move into One Health roles in public authorities, research institutes, NGOs or the health, food and biotechnology sectors.
