The Master’s Programme in Sustainable Digital Life focuses on digital systems, the ways they are used, regulated and designed, and the social, cultural and ethical questions around digital media and communication. Tampere University describes the programme as multidisciplinary and project-based, with core studies in digital literacy, service design, sustainable design, diverse digital culture, accessibility and gamification.
Students carry out realistic research and design projects throughout the degree. The structure includes Advanced Studies in Sustainable Digital Life, Joint Studies and Free Choice Studies. The advanced studies include multidisciplinary courses, a project work course with collaboration partners and a Master’s thesis. The programme also includes group research and innovation project work integrated with the thesis.
Tampere University says the programme is for students who want to work with digital media, communication and information technology, and with digital services that are ethically sustainable, accessible and attentive to social and cultural diversity. Graduates are eligible to apply to the doctoral programmes in Media, Communication and Performing Arts and in Humans and Technologies.
