Bachelor of Economics

The Bachelor of Economics at Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIT) helps students develop core economic skills through compulsory courses. Students then study either econometrics or how economics shapes public policy, business and industry, trade, and the environment. The structure includes foundational modules such as Microeconomics, Business Mathematics, Macroeconomics, Business Statistics, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Management, and Principles of Management.

Students follow a degree pathway where the programme first starts at SLIT and then transfers abroad to finish the degree. Classes run on weekdays at Malabe Campus. The programme is delivered over 3 years, with intake in February, June, and September. It leads to roles such as analyst, adviser, consultant, economist, and researcher, and supports career opportunities in areas including consulting, infrastructure, environmental management, international finance, investment and trade, natural resources, health, treasury, and statistics.

Local A/Ls : Minimum of 3 "S" passes in any stream.
Cambridge/Edexcel A/Ls :Minimum of 3 "D" passes in any stream.
Successful Completion of a Foundation Programme Accepted by SLIIT.
The Applicant should maintain minimum GPA of 2.5 to transfer.

Students are required to do an English proficiency test such as IELTS, TOFEL or PTE.
