Bachelor of Industrial Studies Honours Apparel Production and Management

The Bachelor of Industrial Studies Honours (BIS) in Apparel Production and Management is a four-year degree focused on garment industry and manufacturing processes. It is designed to provide theoretical and practical knowledge for people working in apparel manufacturing, including those who want to develop creative ideas for garment products and move toward self-employment as a garment manufacturer or a small-scale garment manufacturer.

Teaching uses distance mode with limited face-to-face sessions that include interactive learning sessions, laboratory work, and printed course material. The program aims to support graduates to apply theoretical knowledge in technical activities, use skills and techniques effectively, apply technology to benefit industry, analyze industrial issues, and address health, safety, ethical and legal aspects in industrial practices.

Modules

• Apparel Production and Management

Applicants must have obtained three passes in any stream, at the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination, Sri Lanka, in one sitting, or completed the Certificate in Industrial Studies in Apparel technology offered by the Open University of Sri Lanka, or completed the Advanced Certificate in Industrial Studies in Apparel technology offered by the Open University of Sri Lanka, or completion of any foundation Programme offered by the Open University of Sri Lanka, or secured an equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate.
