Diploma in Forensic Medicine Toxicology

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura offers a Diploma in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology. The course is designed for non-graduate employees and A/L qualified students who want professional qualification in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology. Studies include medico-legal documentation and procedures, ethics in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, crime scene processing and management, forensic pathology in the criminal justice system, and clinical forensic medicine.

Teaching is part time over one academic year (2 semesters). Lectures and practical classes are held on Sundays from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. Students complete workplace based assignments and study the processing and analyzing of medico-legal samples for toxicology, support services for medico-legal and criminal justice systems, and principles of human rights and laws related to the field.

• Principles of Human rights and laws related to Forensic Medicine and Toxicology
• Management of Disaster & Disaster Victim Identification

Duly completed applications should be submitted with certified copy of Birth certificate, certified copies of academic certificates, certified copies of certificates of professional qualifications, a certified copy of National Identity Card or Bio Page of the National Passport, evidence of proficiency in Sinhala, original bank slip of the payment, and two photographs of the candidate (2 x 2.5 inch).

Sinhala (and a fair knowledge of English language too is expected)
