The University of British Columbia Bachelor of Education (BEd) is a post-degree program within the Okanagan School of Education. It is a generalist teacher education program with two pathways: Teaching Children (Kindergarten to Grade 5) and Teaching Adolescents (Grade 6 to 9+).
Students can choose French as their language of instruction in either pathway. UBC Okanagan delivers the program over 11 months, with courses and field experiences starting mid-August. Students gain extensive practical experience through in-situ learning opportunities and two school-based practicums, including a 13-week internship.
The program includes engagement in competencies aligned with the BC Kindergarten–Grade 12 curriculum. UBC Okanagan states that it is an approved BC Teacher Education Program, and graduates are certified to teach at elementary, middle, and secondary levels. Graduates can also consider roles listed by UBC Okanagan.
