Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Disaster and Development Studies

The Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Disaster and Development Studies at Bindura University of Science Education is a four-year, full-time programme. Students study modules including Economic Principles, Statistics for Development Practitioners, Social Studies, Agrarian Studies, Cultural Systems, and Communication Skills, alongside disaster and development modules such as Introduction to Disaster and Development Studies, Development Economics, Project Development and Management, Early Warning Systems, and Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction.

The programme includes a third-year industrial attachment and a research component through DDG370 Industrial Attachment and DDG370 Research Project. The structure covers Part I, Part II, Part III, and Part IV, with modules such as Remote Sensing, Risk Assessment Techniques, Disaster and Development Theories and Approaches, Environmental Impact Assessment, and gender, children, and disabilities in Disaster Risk Reduction.

To qualify for normal entry to Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Disaster Management at Bindura University of Science Education, a prospective student must satisfy the Entry Regulations specified in the General Regulations and must also meet the following requirements:

• Have obtained a Pass at “A” Level in Geography and any other “A” level subject.
• Have five ‘O’ Levels, including English Language and Mathematics passed with at least a grade C.
• Special Entry and Mature Entry admission shall be in accordance with the General Regulations.
