LAB University of Applied Sciences describes the degree programme in Product Development Engineering as using Open Engineering methods and Quantum Learning. Students create and follow an individual learning path. They also work with workplace projects and can choose courses that fit their professional interests and goals.

The programme is delivered as on-campus studies in Lappeenranta with contact teaching. Teaching and documents are in English. Students may choose courses taught in Finnish, and the language of individual coaching is agreed between the student and the coach. The degree has 240 ECTS credits and includes a 15-ECTS thesis, practical training and some language courses. Students may also complete part of their studies at partner institutions in other countries or do practical training abroad.

LAB University of Applied Sciences says the studies are closely connected with businesses, working communities and multidisciplinary working-life projects. The degree leads to an undergraduate degree. After graduation, students can apply for work in private sector businesses and public sector organisations that require an applicable university degree.
