The Bachelor of Engineering in Sustainable Food Processing at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences is targeted at Finnish and international students. You study food systems from field to fork and examine food processing for vegetables, cereals, beverages, dairy products and meat products. The course covers basic and natural sciences knowledge of engineering, chemical and microbiological laboratory skills, sustainable food process knowhow, and sustainable management.
Studies are organised as basic and vocational studies, internships promoting professional skills, free-choice studies and a final thesis. The programme also includes modules related to food processing, hygienic design, mechanical engineering, automation and digitalisation, and food process development, with two modules to choose from. Practical training, projects and the final thesis are central parts of the studies.
Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences says the programme is designed to meet the future requirements of agricultural production, food technology, food processing and packaging. It also includes international partner study opportunities and a multicultural perspective.
