Economics, Bachelor and Master

Aalto University’s Economics programme studies economics from a perspective on current phenomena in the world. The programme includes basic studies in economics and quantitative methods, with a strong emphasis on mathematics. Students also study a course on Global Challenges, which covers economic inequality, the economics of an ageing population, immigration, climate change and trade wars.

The bachelor’s degree lasts three years and is organised as full-time contact teaching on campus, with a few exceptions. In the second year, students choose a minor and study mathematics and programming sequences taught at the Aalto School of Science. The final year includes elective courses and the Bachelor’s seminar, where students write their BSc thesis under faculty supervision. Students can also spend a semester abroad and may complete minor studies at an official exchange programme partner school of Aalto School of Business.

Aalto University says the programme is for analytically minded, curious and internationally oriented students. After the bachelor’s degree, students have the right to continue to a Master’s Programme at Aalto University School of Business.
