Interdisciplinary Product Innovation and Creation, Master of Science (Technology)

University of Oulu’s Interdisciplinary Product Innovation and Creation is a two-year Master of Science (Technology) programme. It is ASIIN and EUR-ACE accredited. The programme focuses on product innovation through interdisciplinary collaboration, project-based learning and real-world innovation cases.

Students study in a project-based curriculum where individual courses are integrated with innovation assignments from real needs. In the first year, three projects focus on new product ideas, product concepts and product sustainability. The second year includes a larger project over two semesters, and the studies also include a 30 ECTS master’s thesis, a research seminar and a maturity test. The programme uses contact teaching and English as the language of instruction.

The major subject for all students is Interdisciplinary Innovation and Product Creation. The programme also lets students supplement their studies in areas such as physical or digital product innovation, service innovation or design management. University of Oulu says that after the Master’s degree students can apply for doctoral studies.
