The International Business – Sustainable Global Business master’s programme at the University of Vaasa focuses on sustainable global business. Students study three core knowledge areas: Global strategies in a digitized world, Global marketing and entrepreneurship, and Leading people in global business environment. Sustainability and ethics in global business are integrated into each area. The programme also includes optional studies and a master’s thesis based on academic research in a topic related to the programme.
The degree takes two years and is taught in English through contact teaching and independent learning. Students are expected to complete about 30 ECTS credits each semester as full-time students. Mandatory attendance is required at the Vaasa campus, especially during the first semester, and the degree cannot be completed as distance learning. The capstone course, Sustainable Global Business in Practice, works with partner companies. The programme also includes mentoring and double degree options in Italy, France, Germany and the Czech Republic.
The University of Vaasa says the programme is one of only a few in Finland and one of 140 programmes worldwide with EFMD accreditation. It also recommends that students apply for internship positions in Finland and abroad during the summer and the second year of studies.
