This Master of Culture and Arts in Innovative Music Performance focuses on practical, multi-professional and interdisciplinary learning. The studies include Performance Skills, World Music Cultures, Resonating Communities: A Musician’s Guide to Social Impact, Remote Possibilities to Enhance Music Performance, Artist Branding and Promotion, and a 30-credit thesis.
The degree takes 1 year and is taught in English through blended and online teaching. Students study online with about 1 to 2 joint webinars each month, and the programme also includes face-to-face learning periods, mainly for exercises and performances that require on-campus visits. Oamk says the studies involve teamwork, collaboration in master’s student groups and cooperation with working life.
The programme uses a personalised study plan and includes joint studies with students from business, technology, culture and natural resources. Oamk says the thesis starts at the beginning of the studies and is connected to development needs in the field and the region.
