Bachelor of Science Honours in Culture and Heritage Studies Degree Bsc Chs

The Bachelor of Science Honours in Culture and Heritage Studies (BSc.CHS) at Bindura University of Science Education focuses on Zimbabwean heritage and cultural property, including tangible and intangible attributes. Students study identification, preservation, safeguarding, and heritage in diverse forms. The curriculum covers topics such as Zimbabwean history, archaeology, museology, heritage management, anthropology, national symbols and heritage sites, and heritage environmental impact assessment.

The degree is structured in parts I to IV. Part I includes introductory courses such as HCHS 101, HCHS 104, HCHS 108, HCHS 109, HCHS 116, HCHS 114, HCHS 115, HCHS 117, PC 108, PC 103, CS 101, and HS 102. Part II adds modules including HCHS 207, HCHS 208, HCHS 209, HCHS 212, HCHS 213, HCHS 217, HCHS 218, HCHS 219, HCHS 220, HCHS 221, HCHS 223, and HCHS 215. Part III includes HCHS 300 Industrial Attachment, and Part IV includes HCHS 470 Research Project plus courses in tour guidance, heritage informatics, surveying and GIS, conservation, and forensic archaeology.

Normal Entry: To qualify for normal entry into the Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Culture and Heritage Studies at Bindura University of Science Education, prospective students, in addition to satisfying the minimum conditions prescribed under the General Regulations, must:

• Have obtained at least five ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language passed with a Grade C or better,
• Have obtained ‘A’ level passes in at least two of the Arts and Humanities subjects such as Heritage Studies, History, Sociology, Shona, Ndebele, Literature in English, Geography and Family and Religious Studies.

Mature Entry: Shall be according to General Regulations for the Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Culture and Heritage Studies of Bindura University of Science Education.
