Doctor of Philosophy D Phil

The Doctor of Philosophy (D. Phil) at Zimbabwe Open University is a research-focused doctoral degree for students who already have a relevant Master’s degree with a pass or better. The course prepares students for work across communication, language, policy, and research-related fields.

Study is organised over a period of 3–8 years. Graduates may work as lecturers, language and policy planners, writers and editors, researchers, curriculum developers, terminology developers and lexicographers, and publishers.

The programme also supports careers such as news readers and broadcasters, entrepreneurs, public relations and corporate communication officers and directors, translators, court interpreters, communication officers and directors in NGOs, public and private sector roles, and career diplomats.

A relevant Master’s degree with a pass or better. (3-8 Years)
