The Bachelor of Construction Management at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences covers construction site management, supervision and planning. Metropolia describes the training as qualifying graduates to act as a lead site manager in construction work in accordance with the Act on Demonstration of Competence. The course includes basic studies, general mathematical and natural science studies, language studies, vocational studies, innovation studies, Finnish language studies, working life competence profiling studies, work placement studies and a thesis.
The degree is delivered as daytime studies through contact teaching and blended teaching. The studies last for 3.5 years and total 210 ECTS credits. Students can complete studies abroad through student exchange at a corresponding higher education institution. The innovation study is commissioned by a company in the field, and the thesis is usually conducted for a company.
Metropolia states that the education is primarily aimed at management positions on construction sites in Finland. The degree, together with the work experience required by law, qualifies the student to act as a responsible foreman in construction engineering work in accordance with the Act on the Demonstration of Competence.
