Novia University of Applied Sciences describes the Bachelor of Engineering in Energy Technology as a programme in environmental and energy-related issues. Students study energy production and efficiency, resource and waste management, energy storage, system analysis, environmental legislation, project-based working, and the management of projects. The programme also includes chemistry, physics, modern mathematical methods, industrial economy, project and energy management, and basic courses in Finnish and Swedish.
The programme is full-time and taught in English in Vaasa. It takes 2 years and carries 240 ECTS credits, of which 120 ECTS are previous university-level studies in a related field. Teaching is by contact teaching, and laboratory work is included. The studies use case studies, projects and teamwork. Practical training can be completed in companies or in research and development project groups. The bachelor’s thesis is 15 ECTS and is often carried out with companies.
Novia UAS says the programme is meant for students who have already completed at least 2 years of university-level studies in a related field. It is suitable for students who want to change field or add a Bachelor of Engineering in Energy Technology to an existing university degree.
