The Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Chemistry and Technology gives students extensive knowledge in chemistry and chemical engineering. It covers core studies, profiling studies, specialisation studies, optional studies, practical training and a thesis project. The programme includes life-cycle thinking and material flows in industrial planning and other fields of society.
Students can specialise in Environmental Chemistry and Technology or in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Energy. The Environmental Chemistry and Technology studies include energy and environmental protection, wood chemistry and biotechnology, water and wastewater plans, applied bioengineering experiments, cleaning techniques and Centria’s Chemplant pilot plant. The Renewable Energy and Sustainable Energy studies include energy storage technology, forest industry processes and innovations, process simulation, sustainable energy and environmental impact, and a bioenergy production project.
Centria University of Applied Sciences works closely with local businesses. The programme includes work placement possibilities, study projects and topics for bachelor’s theses through Kokkola Industrial Park. Students can also study abroad, complete a work placement abroad or take a double degree at a partner university in Austria or France. The bachelor’s thesis is a 15 ECTS practical planning, development or research project, usually done as a commission for a company.
