Communication Systems and Networks, Computing Sciences and Electrical Engineering, Master of Science (Technology)

Communication Systems and Networks is a Master of Science (Technology) specialisation in Tampere University’s Master’s Programme in Computing Sciences and Electrical Engineering. The studies focus on Future Internet, computer networks, and wireless broadband and multi-service communication systems, including 4G, 5G and beyond, with attention to IoT, industrial internet, robotisation, autonomous cars, drones and the use of artificial intelligence methods at different protocol layers.

You can specialise in Networking and Computer Networks or Radio Systems and Networks. Networking and Computer Networks covers wired and wireless packet switched networks and the Future Internet. Radio Systems and Networks covers the optimisation and planning of wireless radio communication systems and networks.

The programme is 120 ECTS credits and takes two years. Students usually spend three semesters on courses and one semester on the master’s thesis. Major studies and thesis projects are closely linked to the research activities of Tampere Wireless Research Center, which maintains close collaborations with industry.
