Tampere University’s Computing and Electrical Engineering track is part of the Science and Engineering programme. It gives a grounding in information technology and electrical engineering, with study in mathematics, physics, programming and languages. Students choose either Information Technology or Electrical Engineering as their major and then specialise in one of five focus areas: Signal Processing and Machine Learning, Software Development, Power Engineering, Communications Engineering, or Electronics and Embedded Systems.
The first stage covers common core courses, then students move into major and minor studies. The major includes a Bachelor’s thesis. Teaching uses lectures, seminars, laboratory work, tutorials, group work, assignments, independent study and an examination. Tampere University says students may also do research training in one of its research groups and earn ECTS credits for it.
Tampere University says graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Technology may continue directly to a master’s degree there without reapplying. The bachelor’s subjects and courses determine which English-taught master’s programmes are available.
