European Forestry, Master of Science (Agriculture and Forestry)

European Forestry is an Erasmus+: Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programme offered by a consortium of seven European universities. It gives academic education in sustainable forest management, with emphasis on opportunities and challenges in the bioeconomy.

The programme is organised in four semesters. In semesters 1 and 2, students follow the curriculum as a group, attend lectures and field activities, and complete a one-month European forestry field course and a two-to-three-month internship. In the third semester, students study a topic at the partner university they selected the previous semester. In the fourth semester, they complete an independent research project and write a Master’s thesis. The programme also includes a specialisation choice within the consortium universities’ areas of expertise.

The University of Eastern Finland describes the curriculum as designed to meet the needs of potential employers and to prepare professionals for the four Grand Challenges in forestry.
