Sustainable and Autonomous Systems is a 120 ECTS Master of Science (Technology) programme in Information and Communication Technologies. It combines computer science, real-time embedded systems, wireless communication, computer vision, environmental sensing, and locational awareness. The programme also includes sustainable development themes linked to autonomous systems, including energy harvesting, smart cities, communities, and cyber security of systems.
The degree is a joint effort by the University of Oulu and the University of Vaasa. The studies include mandatory study option studies with advanced practical training, advanced studies and elective studies, a maturity test, an MSc thesis seminar, and an MSc thesis. Mandatory studies include advanced practical training and one 5 ECTS course of Finnish language studies. Teaching is offered through contact teaching, independent learning, blended teaching, and online teaching.
Graduates build robotized solutions for industries such as production, energy, transportation, and logistics. The programme qualifies for scientific post-graduate studies.
