Master's Programme in Technologies for Sustainable Use of Renewable Resources, Master of Science

The Master’s Programme in Technologies for Sustainable Use of Renewable Resources at the University of Helsinki combines advanced technologies, innovations and sustainability with food sciences, agriculture, forestry and business. You study renewable resources, technological solutions, resource management, financial thinking, responsible business solutions and cost management in food and wood supply chains.

The programme is 2 years long and is taught in English through contact teaching. It is based mainly on Viikki Campus, with special project courses and intensive weeks in collaboration with partners, especially in the Satakunta region. The master’s degree includes advanced studies, other studies, elective courses and a 30-ECTS master’s thesis with a 5-ECTS thesis seminar.

The University of Helsinki says the programme prepares students for work in the Finnish and global natural resource industry and for doctoral study.

You can apply if you have completed a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field: engineering, computer science, economics, natural sciences, agricultural sciences, forestry, food sciences, or a related discipline at a Finnish or international university or university of applied sciences.

• Sustainability specialist or green transition manager in industry or consultancy
• Researcher, analyst, or specialist at organisations such as Finnish Environment Institute, national Land Survey of Finland, Natural Resources Institute Finland, VTT, or elsewhere in the public sector
• Project manager or innovation specialist in national or international organisations
• Doctoral researcher or teacher in academia
