The Doctoral Programme in Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine gives advanced training in molecular and cell biology, genetics, structural biology, bioinformatics, molecular medicine, bionanotechnology, and computational biology. It also covers the molecular and cellular mechanisms behind health and disease.
Doctoral researchers build a personal curriculum from a research plan and a personal study plan with their thesis supervisor during the first academic year. They write and publicly defend a doctoral thesis, can take courses from other doctoral programmes, graduate schools, or other organisations, and are encouraged to present their results at conferences in Finland and abroad. The programme links to the faculty’s research groups and core areas of research.
Doctoral researchers select a major subject when they apply. The available majors are Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, and Bionanotechnology and Computational Biology. The programme is also open to doctoral researchers who may need bridging studies in biochemistry.
