Doctoral Programme in Biomedicine

The Doctoral Programme in Biomedicine focuses on biomedicine, molecular medicine and translational medicine. It covers molecular, cellular, physiological and pathological mechanisms relevant to biomedicine and translational medicine, with research areas including cancer biology, immunology and infection biology, stem cell research, molecular neurology, metabolic research, human genetics and genomics, cardiovascular biology, precision medicine, the human microbiome, molecular diagnostics and imaging, computational biology, and AI in the biomedical context.

The degree includes a doctoral thesis and 30 credits of coursework. The coursework can include lectures, seminars, methodology courses, independent study and specialist training. It also includes discipline-specific studies, general transferable skills and international activities. Doctoral researchers can complete the degree in four years of full-time study or on a part-time basis. Teaching is in English and contact teaching is used.

The programme aims to prepare doctoral researchers for professional research careers and demanding expert positions. It is open to undergraduate students from a range of fields whose qualifications, expertise and research topics match the programme profile and the interests of doctoral thesis supervisors.
