The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Human and Planetary Health combines human biology, global and planetary health, and evidence-based health promotion. Students study how biological, social, and environmental factors shape health outcomes, and how individual, community, and global health are connected.
The programme takes three years of full-time study and leads to the Bachelor of Health Sciences. It is organised into study modules in academic and working life skills, language and communication studies, human biology and health, global and planetary health, health promotion and disease prevention, research methods in health sciences, and elective studies. It also includes a Bachelor’s Thesis, practical training, and project work.
The University of Eastern Finland says the programme is functionally bilingual. English is the medium of instruction, and Finnish is integrated into the curriculum. The programme is jointly offered by the Department of Nursing Science, the Institute of Biomedicine, the Institute of Public Health and Clinical Nutrition, and the School of Pharmacy.
