The Bachelor of Health Care, Nursing at Laurea University of Applied Sciences trains nursing professionals for health care services in Finland and other countries. The studies combine practical skills with strong theoretical knowledge. They include theoretical nursing studies, multidisciplinary studies, practical training and an academic thesis. The programme highlights intercultural communication and work in Finnish health care services.
The degree starts with preparatory or pathway studies before entry to degree-awarding education. Students must pass all study units in the preparatory studies before moving on. Laurea uses contact teaching on campus, simulation learning, online theoretical studies and independent learning. The programme also includes co-operation with local health care companies and uses the Learning by Developing pedagogical model.
Laurea says graduates can work in a wide range of positions in health care, in primary health care, specialised nursing units, the private health care sector, expert or consultant roles, non-profit organisations and international duties.
