International Design Business Management is a two-year Master of Arts (Art and Design) programme at Aalto University. Aalto University describes it as integrating design and technology with global business development. Students work through interdisciplinary teamwork and real-life business challenges with industry partners.
The programme is taught in English and delivered through contact teaching. The first academic year includes compulsory IDBM studies and a six-month industry project with business and technology peers. In the second year, students focus on design specialisation through courses from the Department of Design and the master’s thesis. Students can also take elective studies, minor courses from any Aalto school, or an exchange semester at another university.
Aalto University says the programme is practice-based and connects students with public, commercial, for-profit and non-profit organisations. It is eligible preparation for doctoral studies.
