Mechatronics, Master's Programme (2 years), Lahti

Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary field that combines mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science and digitalisation in the design and manufacturing of industrial products and machine systems. The programme covers artificial intelligence for machine and process control, maintenance, services and programming. It also includes digital twins, autonomous machine systems and the development and usability of user interfaces.

The programme lasts two years and is taught in English in a blended format. Lectures and exercises take place online on the Moodle platform and on campus. Most contact teaching is on the Lahti campus, with some laboratory tutorials on the Lappeenranta campus. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has laboratories and other facilities in Lappeenranta and some also in Lahti.

LUT says the programme develops design, modelling, simulation, programming and project work skills for mechatronic systems. It includes projects with regional companies and practical system design work in close collaboration with Finnish and other European companies.
