Tampere University’s Science and Engineering programme is a cross-disciplinary degree in English. In the Natural Sciences and Mathematics track, you study mathematics, physics, chemistry, biomedical engineering, and materials science. The programme gives a grounding in core fields of engineering and uses scientific methods to study technological developments.
The Bachelor’s programme takes three years and 180 credits. The first year consists of common core courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry and languages. You choose your major and minor at the start of the second study year, then continue with major and minor studies in the second and third years. The major includes a Bachelor’s thesis in the third year. Teaching uses lectures, seminars, laboratory work, tutorials, group work, assignments, independent study and examination. Tampere University also offers second-year students research training in one of its research groups.
After the Bachelor of Science in Technology, students can continue directly to a Master of Science in Technology at Tampere University without re-applying. The page says the Bachelor’s degree can lead to further study in several English-taught master’s programmes, and that graduates can later pursue a doctoral degree.
