Sustainable Transport, Civil Engineering, Master of Science (Technology)

The Sustainable Transport major is part of Tampere University’s Master of Science (Technology) degree in Civil Engineering. It focuses on transport systems and mobility in urban and rural areas. The studies cover sustainable transport, the environmental, economic and social dimensions of transport, and the use of transport data. Students analyse, plan and develop transport systems for passenger and freight transport.

The programme is a two-year master’s degree taught in English with contact teaching. The structure includes Joint Studies, Advanced Studies and Free Choice Studies. Teaching includes discussion with staff and other students, real-life case assignments, individual and group exercises, learning diaries and exams. Tampere University says the major can be complemented with studies in automated transport systems through the ENACT Education Network for Automated and Connected Transport for Sustainable Cities.

The degree gives eligibility to apply for doctoral studies. Tampere University says graduates may seek admission to the Doctoral Programme in the Built Environment, which leads to the degree of Doctor of Science in Technology.
