The Bachelor of Health Care, Nursing at Laurea University of Applied Sciences trains nursing professionals for health care services in Finland and other countries. The programme is taught in English and includes contact teaching, theory lessons, workshops and simulation exercises. Students study in multicultural groups and also take Finnish language studies alongside the subject-specific studies.
The programme includes 60 credits of work placements in authentic nursing environments such as hospital wards or health centers. Laurea describes the programme as a functional bilingual education. In the English-taught programme, core competence studies are taught in English, and complementary studies can be taken in Finnish or English.
The studies include deeper knowledge in a selected area such as acute care, medical care, mental health care, social and health services, and safety.
