The Nursing degree programme trains nursing professionals for health care services in Finland and other countries. The studies combine theoretical nursing studies, multidisciplinary studies, practical training and the academic thesis. They also focus on intercultural communication and work in Finnish health care environments.

The programme starts with preparatory/pathway studies. Before degree-awarding education, students must pass the study units in the pathway studies, including English language B2, Finnish language A2.1 and other study units according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Laurea University of Applied Sciences uses contact teaching on campus, simulation learning, online teaching for some theoretical studies, and independent learning. The programme also includes co-operation with local health care companies.

Graduates can work in health care services in Finland and other countries. The programme is designed for students who are motivated to develop their Finnish language skills to the required level.

Applicants are admitted to degree-awarding education only after completing the preparatory/pathway studies. Before the pathway studies, entrance examinations are held and eligibility to apply is verified from the student’s degree certificates. Before being admitted to degree-awarding education, the student must pass all study units included in the preparatory studies: English language B2, Finnish language A2.1 and other study units according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
